IS implementation plan

The figure above was drawn from Anckar & Walden (2001) and reflects the implementation process of a web site by a small and family-owned hotel. It is believed that the demonstrated process represents the main elements of a plan because it considers aspects from the planning, implementation and post implementation phases. During the planning phase the authors propose the consideration of the customers x organisational needs and the assessment of the firm’s potentials and barriers to the IT implementation, such as financial and human elements. During the implementation phase the focus is on the actual construction of the web site, followed by testing and training of personnel. After the launching the authors emphasise the continuous need for training, during this last stage it is believed that feedback from customers and personnel should also be included in the plan in order to make the necessary changes and enhancements of the web site.
